Preparing Immigrant Leaders

Comite de Padres Unidos is an organization of immigrants interested on being informed on all issues related to immigration especially the changes on the immigration laws that are affecting our families and communities.

We hold community meetings on the first Monday of each month at the Dolores Community Center, 938 Valencia Street (between 20th Street & 21st Street) in the Mission District of San Francisco. You can email Guadalupe Ortiz to confirm the date of the next meeting.

Mark Silverman, attorney specialist in US Immigration Law provides our group with advice and referrals. He keeps us updated with what is happening and answering our questions during the meetings.

After earning our victory which was obtaining a temporary extension of the Adjustment 245(i) Law, we are now working on a campaign to urge the Congress to grant residency for workers that for many years had contributed to the economy in this country, an Amnesty, will be a just acknowledge to their efforts. We support strongly the AFL-CIO’s proposal. Our petition includes the restoration of 245(i) permanently, in order to maintain families united, and fairness for all Central Americans, the same benefits for Salvadorans, Guatemalans and Hondurans that were granted to Cubans and Nicaraguans under NACARA. We are also working with other Bay Area organizations in order to minimize the delays of the citizenship process. These delays are depriving us from voting and being part of the election and political process in this country.

Comite de Padres Unidos is a non profit organization, there are no fees, donations made to us are appreciated.

If you are interested in participating in our campaigns, or attending our meetings call (415) 255-9499 ext. 266, we will send you information.
