Attorney of the Day (AOD) Technical Assistance Program

Immigration Law Expertise at Your Service

Through our Attorney of the Day (AOD) program, the ILRC has been providing technical assistance on matters related to immigration law since 1979. Our expert attorneys provide consultations on a wide variety of matters related to immigration law and practice, ranging from family-based immigration; removal defense; the intersection between criminal and immigration law; naturalization and other citizenship matters; humanitarian benefits such as asylum and withholding of removal; options for victims of crimes and domestic abuse; relief for minors; and much more. We do not offer assistance on employment-based immigration. We offer consultations to attorneys, employees of non-profit organizations, criminal defenders, and others assisting the immigrant community.

How Our AOD Program Works

Our AOD attorneys are available to answer inquiries by e-mail regarding immigration law and practice.  Our attorneys will also schedule an appointment for a phone consultation if you request one in your e-mail inquiry.

Our AOD services operate Monday through Thursday. We are closed Fridays, weekends, and holidays. Questions received after 5 pm Thursday are treated as received on Monday morning. Our attorneys will answer your questions within 5 business days, excluding Fridays.

Please note that our attorneys will not respond to inquiries unless payment for services rendered has been arranged prior to sending an inquiry by e-mail.

To access our AOD service, please contact Philip Garcia at 415.255.9499 x427 or via email at to set up a one-time consultation or a contract. See our service options below for more information.

AOD Service Options

We offer the following two options in our Attorney of the Day (AOD) technical assistance program:

  • Contract Service
  • One-time consultation

To get a one-time consultation or to set up a contract, please contact Philip Garcia at 415.255.9499 x427 or via email at

Contract Service

This option allows you to secure an on-going contract with us for a lower rate than the one-time consultation fee, and guarantees you discounted immigration law guidance rates! If you are a solo practitioner, you may create an individual contract under your name. Otherwise, we recommend a contract for your law practice or legal organization so that other members of your organization have access to this service.

In addition to collecting a signed contract from you, we require an initial $350 retainer. Each time you contact us with a question, we will deduct the pro-rated charge from this retainer. You will be billed when your account falls below $50.
