The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) invites you to participate in our 23rd Phillip Burton Immigration & Civil Rights Awards – The Time is Now, on Friday, May 31, 2013.
This is a momentous opportunity for the immigrant community and our nation. Comprehensive Immigration Reform is one of the most critical issues facing our nation today and the ILRC is at the forefront of advocating and advancing immigrant rights. The Phillip Burton Awards provide inspiring moments alongside some of our community’s most dedicated defenders of hard-working immigrants, including immigration attorneys, legal service providers, and community-based advocates.
The evening offers an opportunity to celebrate and recognize three very special guests committed to advancing immigrant rights. The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader, will join us to present the inaugural Nancy Pelosi Award for Immigration and Civil Rights Policy to our Featured Speaker, the Honorable Dick Durbin, U.S. Senator. We will present the Immigration Advocacy Award to Jose Antonio Vargas, an outspoken journalist and courageous advocate.
This year’s honorees have demonstrated outstanding commitment, dedication, and leadership to advocating on behalf of the immigrant community throughout the nation. Please join with us as we celebrate their accomplishments and honor the legacy of immigrant rights pioneer, Phillip Burton.
