How to use Remote Access
- Connect your home computer to the Interent first.
- Click "Shortcut to connect to Small Business Server" on the desktop.
- Click "My Computer" Icon on the desktop
- Click H: or S: to access your files on the ILRC server.
Note:
- Once you use VPN to connect to the ILRC
server, you can not go to other website, but you can check ILRC web email http://athena.ilrc.org/exchange and
access H: and S: drives. This is for the security reason because it creates a special channel to the
ILRC server.
- Disconnect VPN. Right button click the
icon of "Connect to the Small business Server" at the right bottom corner of the screen, then
click "disconnect", then you can go to the other web site.
- When you use network drive on the
Internet, I suggest you copy the files from the H: or S: and save them on your local
C: drive, after you finish the editing of the files on your local computer, then you save it
back to H: or S: drives. Because sometimes the Internet disconnecting will loose your files and working.
- If the VPN is not connected, there is a
red cross on H: and S: drives. It means disconnection. Once you start VPN and click H: or S: drive, the red
across will be disappeared.
-
If you failed to login, there is a log error message in connection status, you have to wait half or one hour to wait the server to clean out the error. And then you can login again.
