Brent joined the ILRC in January 2020 as Director of Finance and Operations. He brings with him over 25 years of finance and operating experience in both for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Brent began his career with 12 years at the multi-national accounting/management consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) where he earned a CPA credential. His management consulting work at PwC included a long stint with the Litigation Support division where Brent had the opportunity to work closely with many highly accomplished attorneys. He then went on to serve as Chief Financial Officer of the handbag and accessories company called The Sak in San Francisco. After a meaningful volunteer experience with The Arc of San Francisco, Brent decided to dedicate his career to helping people in vulnerable situations. Thus, he spent the next 10 years working at nonprofits serving people with developmental disabilities in Marin, San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
Brent was born in the Bay Area and raised in a small agricultural community in the Sacramento Valley. In fact, his summer job while in high school was working as a pear sorter in the majestic orchards of Sutter County. Brent has a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA also from Cal.
Brent has a passion for human rights and reducing unnecessary suffering wherever he can. In his free time, Brent’s interests include Eastern traditions such as Zen Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta and the study of the collected works of the famous Swiss psychologist Carl Jung.
