While U.S. citizenship is a crucial goal for many immigrants and immigrant organizations with whom the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) collaborates, the journey toward citizenship also provides opportunities to engage in the democratic process. This civic engagement is an important step in the immigrant integration process.

The ILRC helps immigrant communities and organizations advocate for improved policies, better access to services, and safer communities. By supporting their leadership development and participating in community meetings where immigrants can address individual and community concerns, we have the opportunity to share up-to-date legal and policy information. By maintaining this open dialogue with our immigrant partners, we continually learn from each other about how immigrants can most effectively participate in civil society and what they need to accomplish their goals.
