Trump Names Architect of his Mass Deportation Scheme as Chief of Staff

Promoting Stephen Miller After the Midterm Shellacking Signals Trump’s Commitment to Anti-Immigration Policies

(Washington)—President Trump’s answer to dealing with the midterm election shellacking was to elevate Stephen Miller, the architect of the administration’s mass deportation scheme, to be his chief of staff.

Promoting Miller after voters nationwide elected leaders willing to push back on hateful and racist immigration policies signals the administration has learned no lessons from the midterm results. The Trump administration has instead decided to double down on its hate-fueled agenda by elevating Miller and giving him even more power.

The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) calls on all elected officials–Republicans, Democrats and Independents–to denounce the promotion of an individual who embodies hatred, fascism and racism. Standing silently by while Miller takes on even more power with the administration will be seen as supporting this move.
