ILRC Comments on Termination of Deferred Action Programs through Form G-325A

Publication Date

On July 24, 2025, the ILRC submitted a comment strongly opposing the government’s proposed changes to Form G-325A and related policies that end protections for three vulnerable groups: young people with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), stateless individuals, and immigrant workers in the Deferred Action for Labor Enforcement (DALE) program. These changes eliminate deferred action and work permits that previously protected people from deportation and exploitation while they waited for permanent status or cooperated with labor investigations. . Ending deferred action will harm over 100,000 SIJS youth, expose immigrant workers who reported labor abuses to retaliation, and leave stateless people without any legal protections. Further,  government violated transparency laws by quietly ending these programs without proper notice or opportunity for public input.
