On March 25, 2024, the ILRC submitted a comment with suggested changes to Form N-648, Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions. ILRC urged USCIS to remove a question that conflates the request for a disability waiver with a request for an oath waiver. The comment also urges the agency to expand the categories of medical professionals who are qualified to sign the form to include nurse practitioners and physician assistants who may be the primary medical provider for the naturalization applicant.
